Étant très occupé en ce moment à la recherche d'un poste à la rentrée (et surtout par Starcraft II je l'admets), here comes the third review! Le Samedi a été la journée avec le moins de groupes intéressants, mais dire que c'était la plus mauvaise journée serait une erreur : bien au contraire ! Au programme : Fucked Up, The Middle East, Chokebore, Black Mountain, Spoon et De La Soul.
Deuxième journée à Dour, journée très chargée au niveau du programme mais en partie gâchée par le mauvais temps.
Au programme : Customs, Memoryhouse, Los Campesinos!, New Young Pony Club, Serena Maneesh, The Futureheads, The Antlers, Dog Eat Dog, The Subways, GWAR, Fun Lovin' Criminals et Atari Teenage Riot.
A peine rentré chez moi de Dour Festival, direction le Nouveau Casino pour la suite du COLORS Music Estival. Au programme cette semaine : Chris Garneeau et Holly Miranda, Nada Surf à la Maroquinerie entre temps et puis Vivian Girls.
Dans la catégorie "Groupes à écouter de toute urgence sous peine de louper quelque chose d'énorme", je crois que Les Savy Fav peuvent arriver en première position. Ce quintet de New-York possède déjà 4 albums studios et 1 album live. Si vous aimez Bloc Party, l'Art Rock avec des guitares bien clinquantes, l'énergie du post-hardcore ou le Math Rock et son coté rythmé : Les Savy Fav est fait pour vous!
Le cinquième album Root For Ruin est prévu pour Septembre 2010 chez Wichita/Cooperative en Europe et leur label Frenchkiss Records (dont le bassiste du groupe est le fondateur) en Amérique. Apparemment, le groupe l'a vraiment mauvaise que l'album soit leak mais c'est la vie ! Ils ont même créé un compte twitter qui va "hanter" (entendez par là follow) les méchants qui l'ont téléchargé illégalement. Sans internet, je n'aurais pas connu ce groupe ni fait de promo pour eux donc show some respect buddy. Personnellement, il ma follow donc j'ai donné pour avoir la conscience tranquille, la nuit j'en dormais plus. La discographie est très solide, il n'y a aucun album qui est mauvais. Mes préférés sont Inches (qui est une tuerie de A à Z) et Let's Stay Friends qui est plus pop.

En live, le chanteur a la tendance à se déshabiller très vite et à aller foutre le bordel dans le public.
Les ayant loupé au Primavera Festival au détriment de Wilco (oui bon c'était le choix le plus dur à faire cette année), j'avais pas mal de regret jusqu'à quand on m'annonce une soirée 10 ans de Wichita Recordings à Paris : Clouds Nothing, Sky Larkin et Les Savy Fav ! Enfin je suis pas certain d'y être car le Crossing Border à la Hague tombe en même temps, pour le moment je reste à Paris!
La réputation de ce festival n'est plus à faire. J'en entendais déjà parler (ou gueuler comme vous voulez) à la Route du Rock l'année dernière, pendant que je dormais paisiblement dans ma tente, jusqu'au moment où un mec se jette sur ma tente en criant "DOURRRAYYY".
En voyant la programmation de l'année dernière, je me suis dit que c'était un festival à mettre sur mon Festival Tour que j'entreprends cette année. Dour porte bien son nom de "Festival Alternatif" puisqu'il y en a pour tous les goûts : Rock, Electro, Reggae, Rap etc... Tout cela réparti sur 6 scènes dont 4 chapiteaux.
La première journée qui démarre en douceur avec Wild Beasts, Get Well Soon, The Maccabees, Faith No More, Moderat et Simian Mobile Disco.
Reprise de la tradition du Spotifriday, 30ème édition! Édition spéciale Merge Records, Gros label indie fondé par les membres de Superchunk après leur départ de Matador Records. C'est mon 2ème label préféré (après Matador donc) où il n'y a pas grand chose à jeter, au contraire on y découvre souvent d'excellents artistes comme Destroyer D'ailleurs pas mal d'artistes sur Merge était sur Matador auparavant comme Spoon.

Parmi les prochaines sorties d'albums à surveiller, il y a 2 albums où il y a ce cher Chris Walla aux manettes. Le second album de Ra Ra Riot "The Orchard" sort le 24 août chez Barsuk Records. Je rappelle que ce groupe est énorme, un premier album très réussi avec un son baroque avec plein d'énergie. Stereogum offre un premier extrait 'Boy' qui est vraiment excellent et cela s'annonce très bien pour l'album malgré les changements de line-up.
L'autre sortir à surveiller est le 3ème album de Someone Still Loves You Boris Yelstin (quel nom àlakon d'ailleurs.) Let It Sway sortira le 17 août chez Polyvinyl, et Stereogum offre encore un titre gratuitement dénommé 'Banned (By The Man)'. Je peux dire que c'est très bon et que j'ai aussi très hâte!

Cela faisait longtemps que je n'avais pas fait une soirée Custom, je ne venais pas spécialement pour Kill The Young, mais bien pour The Morning Benders, dont l'album Big Echo fait très plaisir à écouter. En discutant avec une jeune inconnue devant le Nouveau Casino, je me suis rendu compte qu'inconsciemment, j'avais dis qu'ils avaient qu'un seul album (alors que je savais très bien qu'ils ont d'autres albums) Big Echo surclasse quand même les autres albums du fait de sa qualité, dans les compositions mais aussi dans la production. Les covers sont très bien aussi! Rapide retour sur la soirée.
Sorti le 8 juin chez Merge Records, Shadows est le neuvième album des écossais originaires de Glasgow : Teenage Fanclub. Les Fannies, c'est un peu le groupe que tout le monde se doit d'aimer, car les compositions des 3 membres du groupe sont ce qui se fait de mieux dans le songwriting indie pop. En plus, ils sont écossais et si vous me connaissez bien, j'aime énormément les groupes écossais (avec les canadiens et suédois!) Groupe formé à la fin des années 80, le groupe s'est fait une solide réputation dans le monde power-pop avec des albums cultes comme Bandwagonesque (1991), Grand Prix (1995) ou Songs From Nothern Britain (1997). Liam Gallagher, dans un grand élan de générosité, avait même dit que le groupe était "The Second best band in the world", juste derrière Oasis évidemment.
Évoluant progressivement d'un indie-rock noisy à une pop claire et bien ficelée, Shadows sort 5 ans après leur dernier album, Man-Made (2005)
Dernier jour au Rock Werchter, et non des moindres ! Enfin une vraie tête d'affiche, le légendaire groupe de Seattle Pearl Jam clôturait cette édition. Tout Seattle était là (ou presque) : Pearl Jam donc, mais aussi Alice In Chains, Dave Grohl. Seul Soundgarden manquait à l'appel mais ils sont en exclusivité au Lollapalooza. Comme on était le 4th of July, on va dire qu'ils étaient avec nous par la pensée.
Niveau chaleur, c'était de loin la plus agréable : ciel dégagé et 26° ! Parfait pour une journée 100% grande scène !
3ème journée au Rock Werchter, pas grand chose d'excitant ce jour là... c'est de loin la plus mauvaise programmation de ces 4 journées j'ai trouvé. J'ai donc passé la majorité de ma journée sur la Pyramide Marquee... enfin presque, puisqu'une violente pluie s'est abattue sur le festival vers 14h. Tant mieux, j'avais rien à voir absolument ce samedi.
Au programme : Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders, The Temper Trap, Yeasayer, Porcupine Tree, The Ting Tings, P!nk, Rammstein.
Deuxième journée au Rock Werchter, 39° en moyenne, on pourrait qualifier cette journée comme la "Journée de la Jeunesse". En effet, avec des groupes comme Paramore, 30 Seconds to Mars et Green Day sur la Main Stage, il y avait beaucoup de minettes avec des casquettes Tokio Hotel (bon ok 1 seule) et qui faisaient des cœurs avec leurs mains. Les groupes que je voulais absolument voir étaient Rise Against, Editors et LCD Soundsystem.

Le Rock Werchter est l'un des festivals possédant la plus grosse programmation, pas dans le nombre d'artistes mais dans le budget dépensé pour la line-up. Je dois avouer que la première journée avait une bonne programmation, mais c'était quasiment que du déjà-vu! Coté météo : énorme canicule, 37° à l'ombre et forcément j'ai oublié la crème solaire! L'organisation annonce même que cette édition a été la plus chaude depuis la création du festival.

Voilà, c'était le coup de pub du jour, sponsorisé par Stereogum.
Cela faisait longtemps que je n'avais pas fait une soirée Custom, je ne venais pas spécialement pour Kill The Young, mais bien pour The Morning Benders, dont l'album Big Echo fait très plaisir à écouter.
Dernier jour au Rock Werchter, et non des moindres ! Enfin une vraie tête d'affiche, le légendaire groupe de Seattle Pearl Jam clôturait cette édition.
